EPILOGUE

As I come to the closure of my story the Twentieth Century also approaches its closure. The date is Saturday 11th December 1999 and in three weeks we will be entering the 21st Century, a date I never thought I would see. As a teenager I often looked forward and wondered if I would see the change to the year 2000 when I would be 78 years old.

The start of a new year is usually a time when people think of how the New Year will compare with what has gone before and thinking ahead wonder what the new year has in store for them.

The start of a new century gives one pause for thought on how the new era will match the old.

The 20th Century will surely go down in history as the century of world war and the fight between the rival imperialist powers for control of the worlds resources. In that battle many millions of the inhabitants of this Planet Earth have been sacrificed on the altar of Imperialism.

I fervently believe that my grandchildren and their children will see the end of the class system that has caused so much misery and death. At last, the call of Marx and Engels in the final sentence of the historic Manifesto of the Communist Party will come true and the "WORKING MEN OF ALL COUNTRIES, (WILL) UNITE."
